Church Reopening [Updated: June 23, 2021]

Dear Church Family,

Please be advised that the Ottawa Seventh-day Adventist Church at 2200 Benjamin Ave will reopen for corporate worship on Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Sabbath School classes will continue to start at 9:50 AM on Zoom. Additionally, there will be a single General Adult Sabbath School Class in the sanctuary of the church starting at 10:30 am.

Divine Service will begin at 11 AM. The format for worship will continue as you have seen it flow these past few weeks.

Acknowledging the seriousness of the virus, we are doing everything we can to ensure the safe return of our members to church. The church is committed to following the guidelines for public spaces as laid out by the province of Ontario, the city of Ottawa and our own Conference.

As such, every person who attends worship will be required to wear a face mask at all times. The only exception to this will be individuals on the platform who are leading out in the worship service and only while they are on the platform.

For those have a medical exemption regarding the wearing of a mask, the by-law still requires that you wear a face shield at all times.

We also ask that you follow the same social behaviors at church as you have in other social settings including:

  1. Sanitize and wash your hands upon entry to the church and exiting from a washroom.
  2. Maintain a physical distance of at least 2 meters from others who are not a part of your family bubble.
  3. Stay within your family bubble, when seated.
  4. Observe the Enter and Exit Only signs, where posted
  5. Respect areas of the church that are not opened to the public.

At the moment we are limited to 30% of our seating capacity. We have opted for a maximum of 50 people including attendees, support staff, and participants in the worship service.

If you are 65+ years of age, we ask that you stay home and worship with us online. We also ask children to continue to worship online via Zoom. If you have an underlying medical condition, we ask that you too stay home for your own safety.

There will be a registration process that everyone is required to complete before coming to church. The registration form can be found on the home page of our church’s website at: ottawasda.org. All you need to do is click on the Registration button and it will take you to the registration form which will be open Wednesday night at 7 PM.

Registration is based on a first come, first served basis. Only the first 30 persons to register can attend at this time. The remaining spots are reserved for program participants and support staff. In addition, only those persons who have filled out the registration form and answered “No” to the screening questions will be permitted to enter the church.

Please note that persons cannot attend a service if they have travelled out of province, out of country or to another part of the province within the previous 14 days. Also, if they have been in contact with anyone who has travelled, may have come in contact with someone who has travelled, or if they in any way feel unwell, they should not attend the church service.

We thank you all for your patience and your cooperation as we thread through new waters.

 Pr. Greaves and Pr. Innocent
